The way to Make Plant Hangers

Do not let the lack of a plant hanger keep you from suspending your favourite plants from your own porch, arbor or ceiling. As long as you can tie a knot, nearly any long, flexible material from twine to rope to fabric or wire can be pressed into service as a plant hanger. While you should select your material dependent on the weight of the plant that you want to hang, then master the method of knotting your own plant hanger having an cheap garden twine or yarn before continuing on to more complex, decorated versions.

Cut four pieces of twine 8 feet long with scissors.

Fold the pieces in half of eight ends even and a loop in the opposite end.

Thread the loop end through a metallic ring 1 to 2 inches in diameter, and drag the cut ends through the loop, securing the ring with a lark’s head knot.

Separate the strands into four groups of two each. Tie each group having an overhand knot 2 1/2 feet under the ring.

Bend 1 strand from each group to your strand near it in the next group, 6 inches, with overhand knots forming four “V”s.

Tie all of the strands together, again in an overhead knot, 6 inches apart from the last set of knots. Pull the knot tight. You need to have a tassel under the knot about 6 ins long. Trim it off evenly on the length you prefer with scissors.

Hang the metal ring on a hook. Slip a potted plant 6 to 8 inches in diameter between the grasses, and cozy the base of the pot down against the bottom knot. The knots in the bottoms of the “V”s should be midway up the face of the grass to keep it in place.
