Epoxy Surface Fix For a Cracked Pool Deck

Epoxy Surface Fix For a Cracked Pool Deck

Cracks not only mar the look of a concrete pool deck, but when left unattended can deepen and penetrate the slab. Pooled water seeps into cracks and seeping water eventually causes dirt cavitation. This weakens the foundation and endangers the pool’s integrity, so timely repairs are crucial. With correct application, specialized epoxy concrete chemicals permeate into the pores of cracked cement forming a waterproof bond up to 3 times stronger than concrete, and stops surface cracks in deepening.

Widen the crack by chipping it out with a hammer and chisel. Large cracks may not require this step.

Scour the surface with a wire brush and remove all dust and rubble with a stiff bristle broom.

Unpack the plastic tub containing the repair kit and put on rubber gloves. Pour an equal amount of epoxy resin and hardener into the plastic container supplied and blend thoroughly.

Add half of a measured amount of the mud provided to the mixture. Blend thoroughly with the wooden paddle supplied. Add the other half of mud and blend until all shade disappears. Add extra sand to bring the mixture to the consistency of thick cake batter, if needed.

Pour or use the wooden paddle to apply the mixture into the cavity and fill the rhythm. Level and smooth the chemical to floor height by scraping the edge of a wooden lath throughout the surface at a zigzag motion. Remove any excess chemical and trowel the end smooth. .

Leave overnight or permit 8 to 10 hours curing time prior to walking on the surface.
