Water stains sometimes ruin wood furniture, but they are able to attack upholstered pieces, too. The gray or black stains mar your seat’s attractiveness by making it seem dirty and old. Many cleaning products have no impact on water marks, and a few might even produce the upholstery look worse. You don’t have to have the seat professionally cleaned to erase the stains; rather, use a few inexpensive household materials to produce the upholstery look almost new.

Vacuum the chair’s cushions to remove crumbs, any dust or other debris. Use the upholstery brush or some similar attachment of the vacuum cleaner to prevent damaging fabric.

Dampen a cloth with cool water, then dab the stained area of the seat with it.
