The way to Decorate Plain Wooden Stools With Sisal Rope

In their seats to their toes, plain wooden stools are clean canvases for sisal rope creativity. Hide the wear old stools, or include easy embellishments to brand new ones or turn them to tables. Whatever the project, utilize natural-fiber sisal rope and glue as your own tools.

Rope Rungs

A feces’s rungs not only stabilize its legs but support the user’s toes, leaving the flat wood bars demanding and worn over time. Rope-covered rungs are cushier than uncovered, splintery ones under bare feet. Wrap each rung with 1/4-inch rope for a comfy, casual upgrade. Use wood glue or hot glue to keep the rope in place as you work. The latter adhesive dries quickly, but the former might be more durable and long-lasting.

Knot Again

Knots include a fast, relatively simple detail to your wooden stools. Tie a length of sisal rope at the top of each leg or over each upper rung — glue helps keep ornamental knots in place and facing outward. For nautical style, utilize lanyard knots; for cabin charm, opt for easy bows. You can move West using honda knots, leaving the ends hanging nearly to the floor for a lasso look.

From Stool to Table

If your home is spatially deprived, then it will surely gain from a compact table made from a stool. Bedside tables and living-room end tables rack about 24 inches tall, which is also a common stool height. Stools of 24 inches or taller might have one or two sets of rungs — just one set below another. Wrap the rope around each rung set individually, no tighter than needed, to make one or two flat, shelf-like surfaces.

Seat Down

A sisal-rope seat cover hides scratched or worn wood, providing comfort where it counts. Starting at the seat’s center, wind sisal rope about itself, spiral-style. Don’t forget the seat edges for an attractive finish. If you want to have an allover beefier look, also apply rope down the legs and round the rungs. Include another sisal-rope two or detail in the room, such as curtain tiebacks, drawer pulls or image frame embellishment, for decorating consistency.
